I’m typically the obnoxiously optimistic friend and would enthusiastically encourage you to pursue your dreams and endeavors even if you whispered it to me. Since this is my first blog post, I wanted to start with a controversial take, so let’s detour into sarcasm and negativity.
3 Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Pursue Your Creative Passion
Okay, let’s get something straight. Pursuing your creative passion? What on earth could be more of a waste of time? Who needs that fulfillment, joy, and self-expression in their life? Clearly, nobody!
You are right! Don’t bet on yourself; embrace growth, and here are the reasons.
Reason 1: You’re content with just being mediocre. Who wants to strive for excellence anyway? Who wants to push their boundaries and see what they’re truly capable of? Definitely not you. Nope, you’d instead just settle for mediocrity as you continue to wonder about your existence and walk around with that dreadful sense that you could be doing more in life.
Reason 2: Life is all about regrets. Why would you ever want to reflect on your life and regret not pursuing your creative passion? That feeling of “what if” is just so satisfying. The feeling of missed opportunities is absolute bliss!
Reason 3: Making a positive impact is overrated. Who needs to touch the lives of others or make a difference in the world? You certainly don’t! It’s much more convenient to keep your talents hidden away, never to be discovered and utilized for the greater good. Society’s loss!
Drone Photography has pushed me to new heights and helped me realize my dreams of flight.

Here are some pretentious examples from my life to help drive my point home.
I’ve been taking my camera work professionally for the last two and half years, and to build my portfolio and network, I’ve actively put myself in uncomfortable situations. And with each situation, there is a story behind it. I’ve had some fantastic wins. With the personal projects I’ve completed, I look back and say, “Wow, I did that?” This has led to me being invited to help others with their projects. This allowed me to connect with some great people who shared so much wisdom with me in photography and video. Whether about camera techniques, storytelling, or the business side of the operations.

But it’s not all unicorns, sunshine, and rainbows. I’ve also been hand-delivered some humbling learning lessons. It sucks when I have to stare my vices in the face after I’ve caused some damage to myself and/or others. Resulting in broken equipment, personal injury, and the loss of friendships because I broke their trust by foolishly and selfishly putting my needs first without checking in with the people I cared about.
I’ve also felt the sting of rejection so many times when I’ve offered my services to companies and individuals, and they aren’t interested in working with me. It especially hurts when it’s a project you would love to help with because it aligns with your goals, and you have no problem doing it for free… and you still get REJECTED!?
These lessons I keep close to my heart because they remind me of the person I don’t want to be, and they serve as a compass guiding me to become the better person for those in the future. You also learn that rejection is part of the game and must face it. However, 1 yes makes up for 100 no.
When I look back… It’s crazy to think that pursuing photography and videography would send me on my hero’s journey.

That was a good fairy tale, wasn’t it?
Now that we’ve established why pursuing your passion is a terrible idea and a roller-coaster of a journey, I wish you well in your pursuit of a smooth life.
However, if you are reluctant to heed the reasons why you shouldn’t pursue your creative passion, here is your warning!
Pursuing your creative passion makes you fully responsible for its outcome. You must also raise your right hand and swear to become the best version of yourself—a necessary step to creating the best art you can make. But hey, who needs personal growth, right? Clearly not you.
Oh, wait… I almost forgot. Pursuing your passion doesn’t only benefit you; it also helps others. Your relentless pursuit of becoming your best self will inadvertently touch and inspire the lives of those around you. But hey, who needs that kind of positive influence and inspiration? Indeed, it is not the people you love and care about.
So, if you’re up for it, toss all reason aside and unapologetically pursue your creative passion. It’s time to prove the naysayers right or show the world what you’re made of.
My name is Travone Sukie; I’m just a simple dude with a camera, and welcome to my blog. I hope the lessons I’ve received from others that I share with you can help you grow in your passion as well.
